From 2007 until 2013, Arend Gerds (Groningen, 4 november 1987) studied at the ArtEZ Academy of music with Alex Manassen (NL) and Montclair State University (VS) with V.J. Manzo and Ting Ho, obtaining Bachelor and Master’s degrees in composition. Gerds works as an independent composer, conductor and as a teacher: e.g. at the ArtEZ academy of Music, where he teaches composition to students doing a specialization or minor in composition. Recently he wrote compositions for various chamber ensembles and wind bands. Works were commissioned by the KNMO, Fonds Podiumkunsten, Ad Hoc vakantieorkest, Koperguod, ZomerOrkest Nederland (ZON 2017), Stichting Kunstpalet and others. Van 2007 tot 2013 studeerde Arend Gerds (Groningen, 4 november 1987) aan het ArtEZ conservatorium bij Alex Manassen (NL) en Montclair State University (VS) bij V.J. Manzo en Ting Ho, waar hij een bachelor- en mastergraad in compositie behaalde. Gerds is werkzaam als autonoom componist, dirigent en docent; onder andere aan het ArtEZ conservatorium, waar hij compositieles geeft aan studenten die een specialisatie of minor in compositie volgen. Afgelopen tijd schreef hij composities voor verscheidene ensembles en blaasorkesten. Opdrachtgevers waren o.a. de KNMO, Fonds Podiumkunsten, Ad Hoc vakantieorkest, Koperguod, ZomerOrkest Nederland (ZON 2017), Stichting Kunstpalet en anderen.
