Programmatoelichting (Nederlands):
Deze compositie van Peter Habraken uit 2019 is rijk aan melodische ideeën.
Twee hoofdthema’s, oftewel belangrijkste melodieën, vormen de basis van dit werk en geven de compositie inhoud en muzikaal contrast: het eerste thema is fanfare-achtig en majestueus, het tweede klinkt meer ingetogen, als een hymne.
De hymne klinkt opnieuw, maar nu in een andere toonsoort. Deze keer wordt de melodie polyfoon uitgewerkt: steeds meer instrumenten zetten in imitatie in, en gezamenlijk bouwen de muzikanten naar de gloedvolle climax van het werk.
Dit stuk is uitermate geschikt als openingswerk of ter opluistering van de wat serieuzere feestelijkheden.
Aanwijzing voor de uitvoerenden: in het geval dat een korter openingswerk benodigd is kunt u ervoor kiezen om vanaf letter “M” te starten. In dit geval wordt alleen het eerste thema uitgewerkt. Dit reduceert de lengte van het stuk van 6:15 tot 2:10.

This composition by Peter Habraken dates from 2019 and is rich in melodic ideas.
Two main themes - the most important melodies in this piece - form the musical fundament of this work, and are contrasting by nature: the first one sounds fanfare-like and majestic, the second one more restrained, like a hymn.
When the hymn reappears in another key, it is elaborated in a polyphonic manner: more and more instruments join in, playing the same melody in imitation. Together the musicians build the piece towards a glowing conclusion.
This composition is exceptionally well suited to play on any festive occasion with a slightly serious undertone. Also perfect as an opener.
Note to the performer: In case you would need a shorter opener for your program, it is recommended to start from “M”. Only the first main theme is then elaborated, reducing the length of the piece from 6:15 to 2:10.
