The title Vigorously refers to the energetic and powerfull character of the work. One of the main ingredients is the contrast between the steady and heavy 2/4 bar and the irregular and more floating 3/8 bar. The combination of these and other time signatures as well as other contrasts, for example in characteristic chords and musical gestures, contribute to the high level of energy in this work.
