After his study (percussion) at the Sweelinck Conservatory Amsterdam, Douwe Medema (1955) joined the Royal Netherlands Air Force Orchestra.
He stayed with this orchestra from 1978 to 2011 as percussionist and arranger.
From 2011 to 2013 Douwe did a master study ‘Composition for Media’ at the Utrecht School of the Arts. At the moment he is active as composer/arranger.

Na zijn slagwerkstudie aan het Sweelinck Conservatorium werd Douwe Medema (1955) aangenomen bij het Orkest van de Koninklijke Luchtmacht.
Tijdens de periode bij dit orkest (1978 - 2011) ontwikkelde hij zich als arrangeur.
Van 2011 - 2013 deed Douwe een master ‘Compositie voor Media’ aan de HKU. Tegenwoordig is hij actief als componist/arrangeur.
